About us

Impact Schools Team began in 1988 with the aim of spreading the Christian message to schools across Mid Wales.

We now work across North Montgomeryshire, delivering Christian material in 25 primary and 3 high schools. Our work currently involves assemblies, chaplaincy and mentoring, Easter workshops, transition days and youth clubs. We are always looking for new ways to reach the young people in our area, so if you work in schools and have something we could help with, please get in touch!

Meet the Team

Huw Ellis

Huw joined the School’s team in 2016 after previously being a trustee. He, along with his wife Jean, leads New Life Church in Llanfair which is also the base for his Impact work. He enjoys travelling to stay with his grown-up children and watching most sports!

Darren Mayor

Darren began working for Impact in 1999. God has led Darren and his wife to purchase the Crosskeys in Llanfyllin, which is a multifaceted Christ-centred community hub. From this venue, many community activities and events take place, providing opportunities to explore the Christian faith through café church and house church. Darren is a passionate rugby supporter and is the chaplain to COBRA RFC.

Cara Garton

Cara joined our team in Welshpool in 2023, after working for a similar charity in Kent. She also runs an outdoor activity centre in Welshpool. In her free time, she enjoys walking in the Welsh countryside, playing board games and creating things out of Lego.
